Cute cupcakes

I saw these on Pioneer Woman's cooking blog the other day and knew I had to make them! I tried to take pictures as I went along, but gosh darn it's hard to hold a camera still with one hand while you are dipping something into a bowl of melted chocolate with the other! At least my thumbnail was clean! Here is the first half of the batch, dipped in dark green candy melts (for St. Patrick's Day, of course!)
The other half got a coating of lighter green chocolate candy melts, and then I drizzled the opposite green on top, kinda fancy-like!

They tasted pretty good, although the yellow cake fools you a little, and you might be expecting a peanut butter taste like a buckeye. But, DS prefers yellow cake to chocolate, so yellow it was. I think I could have used a little less frosting in them also - that leaves more leftover to eat with a spoon, right?!

Cooking Up a Storm!

Don't know why it is, but ever since my monkey bread flop the other day I've been cooking up a storm! Spaghetti Sauce, an angel food cake, a chocolate cake, snickerdoodles, yolk-free egg salad, zucchini quiche, and veggie soup! Quite unlike me! I think it's the cold med I'm taking, Mucinex D. The Sudafed in it really wires me! I can only take it during the day!

How to Mess up Monkey Bread

1. One morning, while clearing space for ice cube trays because the ice maker is broken, find bag of frozen bread dough buried in freezer. Make mental note to use to make monkey bread that night.
2. Upon arriving home in early afternoon, remove frozen dough from freezer.
3. When dough is partially thawed, follow directions on back of package. Note that the use by date is June of 2006. Set pan with "monkey bread" ingredients in laundry room to rise.
4. Check after one hour and note that it has barely risen.
5. Check after two hours and note that it has barely risen. Decide to bake anyway.
6. Baked "monkey bread" does not hold together, so its lumps resemble...well, 11 yr old son describes it as something he might find in the back yard where the dog hangs out. Son refuses to eat.
7. Eat a few lumps, consistency is that of...a sneaker? the melted butter/brown sugar/cinnamon/pecan topping, however, is pretty yummy, so I eat some with a spoon while chatting on the phone.
8. Make mental note to clean out other shelves in freezer to determine what other "goodies" are lurking!
