The week ahead...

I finally finished the third pair of flannel sleep pants for me and one for Erik. These all got pockets, at Erik's suggestion. For the cell phone, of course, and sometimes the iPod. I still need to pre-wash the flannel for the Christmas sleep pants for him, my nephew, and my niece so I can get those cut out. That's my goal for the week, so maybe Friday night I can start the sewing. I still haven't decided what color T shirts to buy from ACM to go with them. Or if I'm going to embroider penguins on the fronts or just applique a penguin cut out from the flannel.

It's gonna be a busy week - two 4H meetings (one with a party), soccer practice, holiday pot luck at work, gifts to wrap (and in some cases finish making!), dog obedience workout, holiday cards to get into the mail. I'm going to have to be extra careful to not over-indulge in the food department and to get enough sleep. I need my bus commuting for knitting, not napping!

Tinking and Frog-stitching

What is "tinking" you ask? To tink is the opposite of knit, therefore, it is unknitting. Such as, when you knitted when you should have purled, dropped a stitch several rows below, or did the neck shaping on the armhole edge. Hmm, all of the above I have done in the past week, so I have had much practice in tinking.

On the other hand, when you have to "undo" sewing, it is called frog stitching. ("wesing" just doesn't work). You take a seam ripper to your stitches and "rip-pit, rip-pit" like the ribbit of a frog. I haven't sewn any in the past couple of weeks, so I haven't frog-stitched!

Somehow tinking is more interesting to me than frog-stitching. Not sure why....

WWKIP Day!

Today was World Wide Knitting in Public Day. There were a couple of places in our county that knitters were gathering to knit in public, but, alas, our schedule today did not permit me to join in the fun. I did knit in front of others, at DH's school staff picnic. I took a cotton dishcloth to knit, as we were outside in the heat and humidity. The only person who commented was a little 8 year old girl. Maybe knitting in public has become a way of life and people don't even notice?!
